The Urdu Academy of North America dedicated its June 21, 2015 literary session to the life and work of prominent Urdu poet Anjum Roomani. Jafar Shah was MC of the event held at the Chandni Restaurant Newark CA.
The late Anjum Rommani's son Sarood Anjum, grandson of Usman Sorood and Mrs Sarood Anjum graced the occasion.
Tashie Zaheer, President of the Urdu Academy of North America, invited Sarood Anjum to preside over the event.
Jafar Shah presented a well researched maqala on the life and work of Anjum Roomani, born in 1920 in Sultanpur, Kapurthala in the British India.
He graduated from the Islamia College Jullunder, Punjab. He earned Master's degree from the Islamia College Lahore. He retired from the Islamia College Lahore as Vice Principal.
He is author of a number of books which include: Dunya Ke Kinare, Kulyaat-e-Anjum and Koo-e-Malamat.
As usual a number of enthusiasts recited poetry of Anjum Roomani: Irshad Khan, Syed Babar, Shamsun Nahar, Hatim Rani, Tsadduq Hussain Attari, Ahmar Shehwar, Syed Aslam, Dr. Priya Satia, Uruj Awan, Nagesh Avadhani, Sarood Anjum, : Tsadduq Hussain Attari, Ahmar Shehwar, Syed Aslam, Dr. Priya Satia, Uruj Awan and Nagesh Avadhani.
At the end Sarood Anjum shared his memories about his beloved father. He thanked the Urdu Academy for hosting this literary event to pay tribute to his father's poetry.
At the end Khalid Rana thanked the guests for making the event successful. He particularly thanked Syed Sarwat for patronizing the Urdu Academy events.
