Urdu Academy pays tribute to Shehnaz Muzammil

Urdu Academy of North America dedicated its August 16, 2015 literary event to the life and work of a prominent Urdu poet Shahnaz Muzammil. The event, held at Chandni Restaurant Newark CA, was chaired by visiting poet from Pakistan, Jazib Qureshi. Kosar Saiyed was MC  of the program. She presented a well-researched on the life and work of Shahnaz Muzammil.

As usual, a number of Urdu enthusiasts recited the poetry of Shahnaz Muzammil: Dr. Esmat Kamal, Moiz Khan, Mobeen Khalil, Shahzad Basir, Tasadduq Hussain Attari, Abdus Sattar Ghazali, Hatem Rani, Nagesh Avadhani.Urdu Academy reciterrs (3a)

Shahnaz Muzammil, who got Master's degree in Library Science in 1984, is author of  several books including Payam-Nou (1989), Jurrat-e-Izhar (1990) and Jazab-e-Harof (1990). She is the author of 12 E-books.

Shahnaz Muzammil is the chairperson of Adab Saraae Lahore. Adab Saraae is an Urdu Literary Organization, working in Pakistan since 1988. Its main objective is to educate the new writers and new poets and to provide them an open platform to recite their poetry and prose.

She writes on her blog, "Literature is the custodian of human endeavors aspiration and ambitions along with a mirror which is held up to life. Literature is inevitably connected with life and can never be considered an escape. It is rather a window to life and its problems. This is why Adab Saraae is holding the banner of life and literature to save humanity of extinction because of the onslaught of materialism and selfishness of modern motives." 

Shahnaz Muzammil is also the president of Halq-e-Tajdeed-e-Sikhan, Model Town, Lahore. Besides literary work she is also intensively involved in social projects such as Al Kubra Welfare Association and International Women Islamic Organization 

Jazib Qureshi, chair of the event, in his brief speech hailed the work of Shahnz Muzammil.
