Urdu Academy celebrates Jashn-e-Hamid Narvi

The Urdu Academy of North America held a literary evening dedicated to the life and work of a prominent Urdu poet, Prof Dr. Mohammad Kamal Narvi.
The event was held on September 27, 2015 at the Chandni Restaurant, Newark CA. Khalid Rana, a senior member of the Urdu Academy was MC of the program. Prof. Zafar Afaq Ansari, former Professor of Psychology at the Islamic University of Malaysia, presided over the event.
A salient feature of the program was that many members of Narvi's family were present. They expressed their views about Narvi sahib. Among them were Mashal Ahmed and Numair Ahmed (grand daughter & grand son); Prof. Nargis Udham and Andaleeb Ahmed (daughters); Dr. Zeeshan Kamal (son) and Prof. Manzoor Ahmed (son-n-law).
Prof Dr. Mohammad Kamal Narvi's first collection of poetry was published in June 2015 by the Urdu Writer's Society of North America. Its name is GhooN GhaaN Aur ChinghariaaN that was formally launched at event.
Dr. Afra Ahmed also expressed her views about the personality of Narvi sahib.
Dr. Priya Satia, captivated the audience with singing the poetry of Hamid Narvi.
Nagesh Avadhani also thrilled the audience with his melodious presentation of Narvi sahib's ghazal.
